Dometic Sets Sail with Hydrogen-Powered Boat Journey for a Greener Future
Dometic, a global market leader in the creation of smart, sustainable, and reliable products with outstanding design for an outdoor and mobile lifestyle, is setting sail toward a greener future by partnering with a dedicated team embarking on a journey to unite communities in the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions. Together, they are attempting to break a world record with the first fully hydrogen-powered boat journey. This trip is approximately 250 miles from the Netherlands to the UK, showcasing the potential of hydrogen as a clean alternative to fossil fuels.
TU Delft Hydro Motion Team
The TU Delft Hydro Motion Team, comprising 23 ambitious students from the renowned TU Delft, the oldest and largest technical university in the Netherlands, aims to revolutionize the maritime and energy sectors with innovative technologies centered around hydrogen-powered vessels. Building on their success in harnessing solar power for maritime use, they are now pushing the boundaries further by demonstrating the viability of hydrogen fuel over long distances.

With support from Dometic and regional steering distributor Allpa, the team is equipped with cutting-edge technology to navigate their ambitious voyage. Dometic’s EA 3300 Electronic Steering System ensures precise control with rapid response, while the Dometic SeaStar Sport Plus Tilt Helm enhances comfort and maneuverability, essential for the challenging journey ahead.
