Tom Brady’s Team Clinches First Place in Revolutionary Electric Boat Racing Championship

Welcome to the world of electric boat racing. The inaugural UIM E1 World Championship in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, wrapped up with an electrifying victory by none other than legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady’s racing team. Over two thrilling days of competition against the stunning backdrop of the Red Sea, Brady’s team seized the top spot, delighting thousands of spectators with their prowess on the waves.

This groundbreaking race marked the debut of the world’s first all-electric raceboat championship, featuring eight teams vying for glory under the blazing Jeddah sun. With speeds hitting more than 50 knots (92 kph/57 mph), the action-packed races kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Representing a blend of British and Finnish talent, Team Brady’s skilled pilots, Sam Coleman and Emma Kimiläinen, staged a remarkable comeback to outshine the leaders of day one, Team Miami, owned by renowned singer-songwriter Marc Anthony. The victory was clinched with a commanding lead of nearly 20 seconds, as Team Brady clocked in at 6.58.51.

Adding to the excitement, cricket sensation Virat Kohli’s Team Blue Rising secured third place on the podium, rounding off an exhilarating display of sportsmanship and skill.

But the adventure doesn’t end here. Season one of the championships promises more thrills as it journeys to some of the world’s most picturesque coastal cities. The next stop is Venice, scheduled for May 11-12, followed by the grand finale November 9-10, a Race to Hong Kong.

Coleman and Kimiläinen expressed their sheer delight speaking about their historic win. “We’ve already received a message from Tom, and he’s super-happy with the win,” Kimiläinen said.  “Both Sam and I are so incredibly proud to represent Tom, and we’re pleased we were able to make history at E1’s inaugural race.”

Rodi Basso, co-founder and CEO of E1, commended the outstanding display of passion and spirit exhibited by all the teams, declaring E1’s firm establishment on the global sporting stage. “The past two days of competition have surpassed all expectations…,” he said. “Huge congratulations to Team Brady for taking home the first ever E1 Championship trophy.”

Alejandro Agag, co-founder and chair of E1, hailed the weekend’s races as “fantastic, incredible, amazing,” adding, “What a weekend of powerboat racing with packed out crowds and close competition between eight amazing racing teams.”

For Coleman, powerboat racing runs in the family, with his sister Daisy Coleman introducing him to the sport in 2013. Since then, he’s become a household name in the P1 SuperStock class, clinching four World Championships. On the other hand, Kimiläinen, a Finnish racing driver, boasts a decorated career spanning back to 2005, with notable achievements in series such as the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship and W Series.

As the excitement of the UIM E1 World Championship continues to unfold, mark your calendars for the upcoming spectacle in Venice this May, where the innovation of electric boat racing will dazzle the historic waterways of the City of Water.
