Want to see a team of Princeton undergraduates at the head of the electrification of the marine industry attempt to set the record for the fastest electric boat in the world? On Thursday, October 26th, Princeton Electric Speedboating’s Big Bird will attempt speeds not previously thought possible by an all-electric vessel at the Annual Gold Technologies and Robbins/Margeas Electric Record Event at Lake Townsend Marina in North Carolina.
The first of two records Big Bird will be attempting is the Circuit Outright Electric record which was set at 88.6 mph by Jaguar in 2018. This record is done in a flying kilometer format which averages the boat’s speed over two single kilometer stretches.
The second record is the unofficial top speed record which was set by Vision Marine at this year’s Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in August with a speed of 116 mph. While this number isn’t official, it is the fastest any electric boat has ever gone.
The event will be live-streamed on YouTube: Click Here to Watch or play the video below. The event starts October 26th at 8:00 AM ET.
