A flexible methanol fuel cell solution for electric workboats will be developed and showcased by a Blue World and Tuco partnership.

The Blue World methanol fuel cell technology is a green alternative that is specifically designed for the maritime industry. Depending on the boat type, the flexible fuel cell-powered solution can be used for auxiliary power or propulsion.

This ambitious project is great news for the marine industry and will undoubtedly benefit workboat operators looking to reduce their emissions and operating costs. Providing a low maintenance option, the methanol fuel cell system operates with zero SOx, NOx, and particle emission, and is CO2 neutral. The methanol fuel cell solution not only reduces harmful particle emissions but also operates in a CO2-neutral manner, which aligns with the industry’s demands for more environmentally friendly solutions.

The collaboration between Blue World Technologies, Tuco Marine, and Aalborg University ensures that the development of this solution is supported by extensive research and expertise. With Tuco’s ProZero workboats being custom-built to handle increased demands while providing greater comfort and control, the addition of an efficient and eco-friendly solution like the methanol fuel cell system will undoubtedly save on operating costs while ensuring reliable and stable operations.

In conclusion, this agreement between Blue World Technologies, Tuco Marine, and Aalborg University has been granted funding by EUPD to support the development and demonstration of methanol fuel cells in workboats. This collaboration promises an innovative solution that meets both environmental requirements and operational needs in the marine industry.
