For boat enthusiasts seeking a blend of performance and eco-friendliness, Vision Marine Technologies has launched a game-changer—the VoltX Dayboat. This cutting-edge vessel, equipped with the E-Motion electric outboard, is set to redefine electric boating with impressive speed and efficiency. Priced at $102,500, the VoltX Launch Edition promises a thrilling experience on the water.

A Milestone in Electric Boating

Vision Marine Technologies, originally known as the Canadian Electric Boat Company, has been a pioneer in electric boating for three decades. The company rebranded in 2020 to focus on high-power electric outboard systems, leading to the development of its innovative E-Motion 180E. This transition marks a significant leap from its initial boat-only offerings to a complete electric propulsion solution.

Founder and CEO Alex Mongeon says that extensive consumer research guided the company’s next steps. The findings revealed a strong demand for recreational electric boats that match the performance of traditional gas-powered models. Boat owners wanted an electric vessel that could achieve speeds of up to 25 mph while offering reasonable range and cost-efficiency.

Cutting-Edge Design and Performance

The VoltX Dayboat is the first vessel from the company to integrate Vision Marine’s E-Motion technology seamlessly into its design. The team prioritized reducing the hull’s weight, enhancing both speed and range. By incorporating the E-Motion electric outboard and battery systems, the VoltX optimizes efficiency and balance, resulting in a more agile and responsive boat.

Mongeon highlights that while the VoltX is a new offering, it builds on a proven hull design. More than 300 units of the original Volt 180 have been sold and tested, ensuring the new model benefits from years of real-world performance data. The VoltX features a scaled-down version of the E-Motion 180E, delivering around 90 horsepower (approximately 65 kW). The design also incorporates a 43 kWh battery bank, reducing the boat’s weight by about 500 pounds compared to its predecessor, the record-setting Volt.

A Perfect Blend of Style and Function

The VoltX isn’t just about raw performance; it’s also designed with comfort and style in mind. Modeled after sleek European picnic boats, it can accommodate up to 10 passengers, offering ample seating in the bow for social gatherings. The modern shade canopy is easily removable, and the boat features high-quality Bluetooth-compatible speakers for an enjoyable onboard experience.

Included with the VoltX Launch Edition is a custom trailer and protective polyblend covers, ensuring the boat stays in pristine condition. The boat has a range of up to one-and-a-half hours at speeds of 20-25 mph, and even longer at slower speeds. Mongeon emphasizes that the VoltX allows boaters to enjoy their time on the water without changing their habits—just enjoy the ride.

The VoltX Dayboat represents a significant advancement in electric boating, offering both impressive speed and sustainable performance. With Vision Marine Technologies’ 30 years of expertise embedded in every detail, the VoltX promises to be a standout choice for boating enthusiasts looking to embrace the future of watercraft.

Ordering and Availability

The VoltX Launch Edition is available for pre-order through Vision Marine’s website, with a $1,000 deposit required to secure one of the limited production models. The first deliveries are scheduled for Fall 2024, so those interested in owning a piece of electric boating history should act quickly. visionmarinetechnologies.com
